Stephen Hawking, Pink Floyd -- Keep Talking. :)
« Reply #107 on: November 30, 2011, 10:39:27 AM »
"For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn't have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking." -- Stephen Hawking

So true. An interesting  dude, even if I may not agree with some of his ideas.

As for the mighty Floyd, imo, truly unquestionable genius, a timeless band, Wish You Were Here is in my top ten albums of ALL time, with the rest of Floyds work scattered through the top fifty ;D

fascinating connection you've made there vesp! I like the Style  8)

I'll try and "reply" with some more crazy complicated connecting "Music and The Man" :o

My Dad started me on PF when I was 8 I think. In my teens, mostly in HS, I got extremely into them. When life was hardest, PF was dearest to me. Always loved them. Been on a decent little PF kick lately in fact.

When I was a teen, I swore that I'd marry a woman who could sing like any of the women in the "Waters" backup group, like that solo on Dark Side... Jesus fuck....
Alimentary, dear Watson; I had a gut feeling.

I don't suppose anyone has that old song about being another bee in the hive? I think jboog maybe wrote it?

Something about tamping poo down the shower drain and where some red phos might bee?

Here's a cool animated clip, from a great Oz band, the Hilltop Hoods

"The light you burned"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPStkGgycX4

And here's them playing a live show with a backing orchestra, this was the first of their songs I heard, IMO, it was written for "us" ;D enjoy!
as the chorus goes,
"and its all love and its all right, till were all drunk then its all fight, then its all over, go home,go sleep, wake up,get sober, what a great night"

"What a great night" (restrung)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trdZGO61Nuw

and here's the original clip of "what a great night", the MOST expensive music video EVER made in Oz!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuIuSl25_T8&feature=related

Listen to it with headphones or a good stereo to really enjoy the FAT bass!

And one more oldie from them called "Whatcha Got?" with a bass sample from Charlie Mingus who they call "lingus"
They have many great puns and double meanings in much of their music

Oh and the "Anthem"  'so just try to fade me, just try to fade me just, just try to fade me kid we're the craziust!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGxx-r1UCNA

Peace love and music therapy 8)
