What do you use to remove silicone grease scum cheaply & effectively !?
You know,nasty soap-scum like thing that appears in your out of the reach of brush in glassware after you
use silicone grease often and/or at high temperatures.

I know that stuff is mostly inert but it tends to pick up dust and other crap and just looks ugly.

Hot ethyl acetate proved to be helpful. Combine it with a paper towel, if you can reach the spots, because even ethyl acetate is only a mediocre solvent for this purpose (nonetheless the best I've seen so far!).

Looks highly unstable, I would not expect to find much literature on this to be honest because from the looks of it I would expect decomposition just attempting to isolate the substance.

Hypohalites as far as I know rarely exist outside of solution. Keep in mind that odds are this will disproportionate simular to NaOCl when attempts to isolate it are made.

Who said he wanted to isolate it or eat it? Perhaps this is a step in an organic synthesis to produce some other substituted amphetamine.

Potassium ferrate is known for oxidising alcohols without affecting alkenes and amines. It's also rather easy to prepare.

The problem is actually getting any significant quantity of lysergol. It's uncontrolled, sure, but if you order a kilo from Sigma I'm sure that the feds will come a-knockin'.

I found out that DCM works silicone great for fresh grease but not for dried up scum.

I had a lovely little run away nitro Al/Hg.  The addition funnel opened up some how and I almost shit a brick when I saw the vaporized MeNH2/MeOH puffing out of my column (fract column stacked on top of the condenser).  Put it in an icebath to calm things down.  The rxn was out of control for no more than 60 seconds.

Gassed and only got back 20% product.  Filtered, removed the solvent, and now I have a light yellow free flowing liquid.  TLC'd on 4:1 hexane/etoac and the major spot is very polar (Rf ~0.7-0.9).
I'm thinking its just MDP2P-ol, but I don't think it would be that polar.  I'll stain it next time I get a chance, but I'd like to hear any ideas on what this substance could be in the mean time.

nitro mannich reactions really aren't energetically favorable without some sort of catalyst, especially with methyl ketones.

Decided to prepare some MDP-2-P Oxime this morning since I'm out of MDA  To my great surprise, The Hydroxylamine Hcl I had in stock wasn't snow white anymore, but more of a greyish-purple tint  I have no recollection of how it smelled (or any other properties beside color for that matters), but it sure wasn't that color :

What happened here ?? My MERCK states it slowly decomposes when moist (I didn't bother storing it correctly...Simply used 3 differents layers of plastics bags + some dessicant...Been lying around for 4-5 months ), I suppose that's the culprit and that the product is completely loss ??(If so, that's what I deserve for being negligent I suppose  ). I've searched a bit but found nothing really relevant....

If what I'm saying makes sense, I suppose recrystallization (or just about purification technique  ) is useless since the product is now mostly another compound, right? If so, looks like I'm going to synth. it myself instead of buying it

If you want to fuck around with acid, why don't you try to make your own DET, there is no need to start from scratch, you can extract it from the degradation of OTC products.

That require an High pressure bottle wich can handle the hydrolysis of DEET. If buying Diethylamine is allowed, i prefer using it

and that's not for acid so i won't ask if buying POCL3 will be dangerous
