Now at 100x100 vs 130x130.

Hopefully that is better... Its hard to tell since everyones screen kind of has different settings. This size seems better but let me know.

Caro's acid, nitric acid, fire, etc.  Fire is possibly the best, but it has to look like an accident otherwise it could fall under "obstruction of justice" and still land you with a "conspiracy to" charge.  Basically any strong oxidiser should do the trick.  Soap and water works quiet well though.

I think this is a major misconception considering you can not conspire with yourself. By what means could they hit you up for charges because you wanted to clean your glass of all trace of organic. It is a common practice to do so to prevent contamination.

I suggested before that a solution of Fe(II) salts and H2O2 would rip the shit out of anything organic present and turn it into CO2 and H2O. Care would have to be taken though because the reaction is extreamly violent.

I was reffering specifically to the method of cleaning with fire.  When I say fire, I don't mean blow torch, I mean petrol all over the lab equipment and a lit match bahahaha.  Good suggestion on fenton's reagent btw.  I forgot all about that little guy haha.  It'll destroy everything lol.

I got my vacuum pump today which is supposed to pull a 75 micron vacuum. Obviously its gonna be a bit less than that as I move away from the inlet. The problem is I think my vinyl tubing is getting sucked in on itself and closing the vacuum off before it gets to my distillation apparatus. What should I do about this? here is the exact one I ordered http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=98076

Just curious, what would be the average wholesale price of THC/marijuana (either, easily interconvertable as average content in plants in US is 10%) in the US be?

That's very dependent on the size of the shipment. Are you referring to ounces, pounds, tons, etc?

Variac's and mantle's
« Reply #252 on: October 11, 2009, 10:03:26 AM »
Hi gents
Just a quick question, I have never had the opportunity to use my mantle, ive used them in labs in the past but never this way.

I have a bolec(?) 1lt has no temp control so im using a variac I got on eBay ages ago, only got around to using it today.

Anyway the system is working fine I'm refluxing some p-MethoxyPhenol. The variac is regulating the voltage in the exact way I had hoped, holding the exact temperature I want, however, this is my question; Is it normal for the variac to hum? and get hot (too hot to put ones finger on for longer then a second).

Anyway expect an update in the methoxyphenol thread with dSLR pictures  :o

Hmm mm obviously not it appears the contacts have melted....
Nothing to bad, just a solder job.
Might have to get a fan to blow on it or something....

Anyone else experience this?

I have three variacs and none of them get so hot you can't touch them.  The clip on ammeter shown here:
https://www.hyperlab.info/inv/index.php?s=7c73c39635cfeb4c5f2912a935921170&act=ST&f=17&t=28421&st=80
came from Radio Shack along with an adapter shown in the picture.  You can use the adapter and ammeter to check the current going through the heating mantel and the variac.  Does the variac get hot when the mantel isn't plugged into it?  Try powering a light bulb with the variac and see if it gets hot.

I've been trying to find a definitive answer about the psycoactivity of oleamide. Does anyone know of any bioessays of just oleamide? It's in some smoking blends, but it never seems to be tested on its own.

I've never found any, but this is something I am interested in as well though I kind of feel that it is not going to be much of a recreational substance, but I hear it has potential, but probably puts you to sleep more then anything.

Not that I'm aware of.
Might not even effectively cross the BBB with out an inhibitor of some sort - i.e the metabolite of Tylenol.

Pseudoephedrine reduction HI/red P
« Reply #259 on: October 12, 2009, 10:28:48 AM »
Does anyone know, how does one knows when the reaction is over without any fancy equipment, when reducing pseudoephedrine with iodine/red phosphorus?
I have read thousands of sources, but I cant find that data. All sources state it should be refluxed for 12-48 hours or by taking samples to analysis to monitor the progress.
